They farmed in the Fairfax area for several years until moving to Eden Valley in 1959. She taught in the rural schools of southern and central Minnesota. She graduated from Fairfax High School and went on to graduate from Mankato State with a teaching degree. Mabel was born March 3, 1910, in Fairfax, Minn., to Charles and Ida (Frohrip) Bauermeister. The Echo Lake restaurant just three miles from town is a great breakfast area.Next is the Ice Cream shop in the middle of Electric Ave, where I ordered their Huckleberry Ice Cream cone. Their Garden Portobello Mushroom was a treat, packed with vegetables, pesto, feta and baked mozzarella cheese. My new favorite beer is their Flathead Huck Lager-a light beer with a hint of Huckleberry. First was the Flathead Brewing Company on the lake. Bigfork was a both quaint and upscale town depending on where you look.
